The First Game of the Season

Welcome to the first Blog of Beaufort RFC

The first trial game was lovely fixture in the sunny Rhonnda against the formidable Ferndale RFC. It was a gruelling affair which we managed to grind out a 5-0 win. Personally I thought it was a great fixture against a good hard team.

Speaking as a player (I am the limpy, beardy second row Matthew Hopkins) I thoroughly enjoyed it though my club foot contracted trench foot in the rain. The summer training was perfectly targeted at this type of fixture the beastings from the coaching staff prepared the boys for the knocks.

Enough from me and more from Glyn who'll be posting his thoughts shortly

From a coaches (Glyn Moon) point of view i woz pleased, Alun Hodgkinson woz talking to the ref after the game and a comment was made 2 him b4 the game that they were gonna run a few tries in against us - that was never gonna bloody happen. The defense was superb, from every1. Obviously there r areas 2 work on, the scrum was a tad untidy on times, but thats just a concentration issue. We'll address that in training, sorry lads more pain!!!!

The almighty scrap at the end was pleasing in some respects cos it showed tremendous unity within the squad but also a bit worrying, the subs cant come waltzing on and wading in!!! Naughty boys u!!

All in all well pleased, but room 4 improvement!! 5/10 !!!
