A Coaches View (Fort v Crickhowell 6th Sept 2008)

Well, where do I start!! A very, very disappointing performance. After an excellent training sessions indoors on Thursday i was feeling confident about the Crickhowell game. I knew Crickhowell would be a tough nut to crack, after all we only just beat them at home and lost to them down on their patch. We seemed very lethargic from the off. The chase at kick offs was particularly alarming to me. They gathered the kick off with ease, there was no-one within 20 yards of the receiver. They were a physical side and didn't need an invitation to run at us. We'll certainly address that in training!!

There were positives however. First phase position on the whole was good. The line outs went well again and the scrum was just about OK, still work to be done there though. Our fitness is progressing nicely. We were pressing at the end.

Assigning responsibility to players about certain parts of the game seems the way to go.

New Panteg on Saturday is another potential banana skin and if the chaps aren't switched on, then they are in for another uncomfortable afternoon.

See you on Thursday for fun and games.

Yours as always
Glyn
