New Panteg Match Report

NEW PANTEG RFC 7 POINTS BEAUFORT RFC 38 POINTS
Beaufort put last week's disappointment behind them with comprehensive win against the host side outscoring them 6 tries to 1 and gaining a bonus league point. Beaufort's young blades had a point to prove and they did so in an impressive style playing all the creative rugby . Centre Mike White cut the gap in text book fashion in the second quarter to score two tries to end a first half with a Dylan Smith conversion 12 unanswered points.
After the break the flood gates opened as Beaufort cut lose to reduce the home side to defend with increasing desperation. Full back Matthew Burrows having a match finished off a slick handling movement for a third try courtesy of a buoyed pack, which all afternoon made the hard yards to keep their hosts permanently on the back foot Momentarily, New Panteg did catch Beaufort out with a solitary try, superbly converted from the touchline to reduce the arrears 19 points to 7. But for the home side it was a rare moment of opportunity since for much of this match they were perpetually on the brink of the last tackle .
By the third quarter the game was over as a contest . Wing Kyle Purnell got Beaufort's fourth try under the posts . Prop Justin Roberts from a tapped penalty crashed through a tired defence for the next and a thirty metre run from Beaufort's talisman Justin Bennett got the last with his captain Dylan Smith kicking the extra points from four conversions.
In the back row Matthew Purchase in his first league game of the season had a fine match as did Mike West at hooker but Beaufort's star man on this occasion for his jack in the box performance was centre Mike White.
Next week Beaufort potentially play their toughest encounter against last years league leaders at home against Newport's Hartridge RFC
